MtE+D began using the Energy Guage software program. Energy Guage is one of two programs approved by the federal government for certifying houses for tax credits. Energy Guage estimates annual energy use by inputting hourly weather data, local utility rates and the detailed configuration of the house. Proposed changes to insulation levels or construction details can be easily analyzed for projected energy savings.
Imagine, as a market gardener, growing fresh, organic food all year in Montana without any fossil fuels. Tomatoes into November and December, new greens starting in February. These off season crops offer higher profit margins because the alternative for consumers is the tired produce in the grocery stores.
